Powerfood
The Brassica - true Powerfood. They are beautiful and so good for you. .Brassica vegetables are highly regarded for their nutritional value. We should probably eat some Brassica each day. This is a huge vegetable family and they really do come in different shapes, structures and sizes. They provide high amounts of vitamin C and soluble fiber and contain multiple nutrients with potent anti-cancer

Dahlia 'Harvest' - tubers and seeds
It's late September and the frost can come any night now, that means that I have to dig up all my Dahlia plants, it’s so sad that indicates that the summer has definitely ended and the autumn takes giant leaps towards the winter. Time to dig in! On with the Wellington boots and ‘armed’ with a garden fork and my favourite secateurs I spend the whole day digging. Tough work…I store my Dahlia tubers

Squash and Pumpkin Parade
CLICK TO ENLARGE!Cucurbita maxima Duchesne 'Blue Hubbard' and 'Marina di Chioggia' are the green ones at the bottom. The yellow/orange one I think really looks like a how pumpkin should look like, it's a Pumpkin Racer F1. The rest are just small one's that I grow purely for decorations. Blue Hubbard has got this wonderful bright orange flesh, good for cooking.More about 'Blue Hubbard' in Swedish.

Margerita is the Latin word for pearl.
En liten bit av Mexico i Tyras Trädgård.T.G.I Friday and the weekend is coming up. I love Mexico, mexican food and mexican drinks. One of my absolute favorite is the Margerita cocktail. There are a lot of recipes how to make the perfect Margerita (not as many as the perfect Dry Martini of course) This is how I make it.1 lime - 1 Tequila - 1 Triple secEasy enough? 1 part is about 5 cl/person. Yin & Yang in Tyra's Garden
Unity of opposites. The dual concepts of yin and yang – or the single concept Yin-Yang – originate in ancient Chinese philosophy and metaphysics, which describe two primal opposing but complementary principles or cosmic forces said to be found in all non-static objects and processes in the universe. The concept is the cornerstone for Taoism and TCM.Yin is often symbolized by water and earth,

Nu hänger mina lökar!
Harvest, onions hanging on my fence. This is an other fantastic time of the gardeners year. Harvest. Each day you can harvest something from your garden, to choose from all the wonderful berries, fruits or vegetables. All the work and love you have put into the garden finally pays off. Wonderful time.Tänk så underbart att få skörda. Skördetiden var nog mer av en fest förr i tiden då man fick

Rhubarbs, books and tulips....a perfect weekend
Weekend at Åkerby, the summerhouse.I had a wonderful weekend in Åkerby. The tulips were in full bloom and I harvest the first Rhubarbs for the year. In the "summerhouse" there isn´t much to do, that is the point with it. You go there, just to have a peaceful and quiet weekend. The profound silence is rare to find these days but in Åkerby you have it. We use say that when you go there it takes at

Blue Hubbard
